Nhulunbuy Primary School is situated in the township of Nhulunbuy on the tip of the Gove Peninsula in North East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. Nhulunbuy Primary School is proud of its forty year tradition of delivering quality education in this unique part of the world. Our community is presently undergoing major change and all of us at Nhulunbuy Primary School are dedicated to providing a stable environment delivering a quality education program for our students. Our staff and school council are committed to delivering an enriching, positive learning environment whilst always working towards school improvement.

Construction of the school began in 1970, to service the growing community employed in the Nabalco bauxite mine and alumina refinery.Opened by Malcolm Fraser in July, 1972, Nhulunbuy Area School began with 400 students from Year 1 to Year 9.


Today, Nhulunbuy Primary School has a current enrolment (as Feb 2019) of 474 students including Preschool. Our teachers and staff are dedicated, skilled and caring professions and we are buoyed by a very active and supportive school council and wider community.
