Most principal messages begin by saying, ‘I am privileged,’ or ‘I am proud’ to lead my school… the same applies here!

I took on the role of principal at Nhulunbuy Primary School about 18 months ago. We are an excellent school. Our classes are full of incredible students who are kind, empathetic and hard working. We have passionate and dedicated teachers and support staff who go over and above, to care for our young people and to ensure we are a school that strives to be the best it can.

Our School Council consists of proactive and positive parents, whose contributions have helped to identify and implement improvements across the school. We have other important stakeholders who visit our school on a regular basis. Each piece of the puzzle is critical to creating a community that is caring, engaging, and brimming with high expectations.

Together, we are committed to improving the learning and wellbeing outcomes of every student in all aspects of school life. I am passionate about each student having the right to a quality education and I lead a team that consistently works toward achieving this.

For me, it is about creating an environment where people feel noticed, cared for, and supported – to be the best version of themselves. Our classrooms deliver explicit instruction, driven by data, so that our students receive quality feedback based on their point of need, and as a result experience academic and wellbeing growth and achievement. At Nhulunbuy Primary School you will find fun, new opportunities, and lifelong learning.

Nhulunbuy Primary School is not only a workplace for me. It is home. I belong to a long list of people who were privileged to complete their schooling at Nhulunbuy Primary School. Each day I endeavour to build on the positive experiences I had.

If you have school aged children and are wanting to enrol, please don’t hesitate to make an appointment to meet with me or our Assistant Principal Kath. Everyone is welcome.
