Nhulunbuy Primary School established a Cultural Centre in 2011 as a way of acknowledging the traditional owners as an integral part of this school.  The Cultural Centre is staffed by a full time AIEW (Aboriginal and Islander Education Worker) and Cultural Advisor.

Indigenous students, parents, friends and community members have an easily accessible centre at the front of the school, which allows for ease of communication, nutritional programs, improved attendance and support.  Indigenous community members access the Centre with its relaxed and informal atmosphere, caring and understanding staff, proximity to Early Childhood classrooms and possibilities for sharing knowledge and stories.

Our Cultural Advisor Luke supports teachers, ensuring our curriculum includes a local lense and is culturally appropriate.
