House captains are nominated via Preferential voting. Candidates present a short speech to their House team and then students vote. Students in Grade 6 are given priority to be house captains. House captains have a range of responsibilities throughout the year including but not limited to

  • Coordinate lunchtime and recess school sports equipment distribution
  • Promote Nhulunbuy Primary School at sporting events, carnivals and functions
  • Create newsletter items related to sports events and activities
  • Provide strategic feedback on sporting events to improve the process.
  • Address at school assemblies to promote sports carnivals and relevant sporting matters
  • Lead war cries at sporting events
  • Be an outstanding role model for all students e.g. Peer Mediator
  • Exhibit leadership and sportsmanship during PE lessons and sporting activities
