Dear Students, Parents and Community Members,
Welcome to your school! I am privileged to lead the community of learners at Nhulunbuy Primary School. Our school has students and families from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, including families from the traditional owners of this land, the Yolngu people. I lead a team of passionate and knowledgeable teachers and education-based staff that are committed to continuously refining their respective teaching and support practices. The teachers I lead work together and in partnership with students and parents to ensure that everyone has opportunities for growth, achievement and success.
I was honoured to be appointed as Principal of Nhulunbuy Primary School in May of 2018, after undertaking several different principalship roles in schools across Melbourne, over a period of 16 years. I successfully completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985, a Diploma of Teaching in 1987, a Graduate Diploma of Educational Studies (Curriculum) in 1991 and a Master of Education in 2000. I am currently in the process of enrolling in a PhD. My background has been in implementing quality curriculum initiatives in schools, as well as building the capacity of teachers and leaders in the government school sector and at a systems level through participation in coaching and mentoring programs.
I lead a school that is committed to improving the learning and wellbeing outcomes of every student in all aspects of school life. I am passionate about each student having the right to a quality education and I lead a team that consistently works toward ensuring that young hearts have bright minds and strong futures.
Nhulunbuy Primary School is the right choice for your child if you have high expectations about academic learning and positive social development. I encourage you to contact the office and arrange a time to visit our wonderful school.
I look forward to meeting with you and your family.
